The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has announced an 8% increase in standard freight rates for trucks and new freight rates that include cargo handling fees. The pillars of the review are appropriate transfer of costs, correction of multiple subcontracting structures, and diverse fare settings. In addition to raising freight rates, standard standards for waiting and cargo handling have been established, and new loading and unloading fees have been added. In order to correct the multiple subcontracting structure, we will collect 10% of freight charges as a subcontractor’s fee, and take measures to have the main contractor notify the shipper of the actual transportation company’s information. In addition, with joint transportation delivery in mind, we have set individual freight rates and introduced express delivery premiums and discounts based on lead time. These measures aim to appropriately pass on the burden to shippers and promote the healthy development of the transportation industry.
