Fraud that puts a damper on personal car sharing, a weekly magazine that puts a damper on the spread of EVs

On January 21st, there was an interesting announcement regarding car sharing (*). Anyca is a personal car sharing service developed by Sompo Holdings, which operates Sompo Japan Insurance Co., Ltd., and DeNA, a joint venture company. A former DeNA employee working in customer support took away users’ personal information (names, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, gender, bank account information, facial photos, and images of identification documents such as driver’s licenses).

The former DeNA employee applied for a card loan using the personal information, and the incident was discovered when a user contacted customer support and said, “I received a confirmation call for a loan application that I did not recognize.” It is said that the personal information taken was for eight people. Until now, the company has taken measures such as using virtual desktops and recording videos of PC operations in its customer support operations, but the company plans to further strengthen its monitoring system.

Enika was originally a service developed by DeNA, but in February 2019, we launched a new company “DeNA SOMPO Mobility” with Sompo Holdings and transferred the Enika business. There are concerns about car sharing between individuals, such as vehicle theft, but by SOMPO Holdings’ involvement in the service, the aim is to alleviate user concerns and increase the number of users who rent cars, not just those who rent cars. There it was.
