Canon announced on February 20th that it has achieved the top global market share (unit basis) for interchangeable lens digital cameras in 2023. It has held the number one spot for 21 consecutive years since 2003.

The company started with the “EOS DCS 3” jointly developed with Kodak in 1995, and in 2000 released the “EOS D30”, which was developed entirely in-house. In 2003, when it achieved top market share, the first digital single-lens reflex reflex camera in the EOS Kiss series, the EOS Kiss Digital, was released.
