The production of flying cars begins with full cooperation from Suzuki

On March 7, 2024, SkyDrive announced the commencement of production for “flying cars” within Japan. They plan to initially produce the “SKYDRIVE (SD-05 model),” intended for flight at the 2025 Japan International Exposition (Osaka-Kansai Expo), followed by the gradual manufacture of aircraft for sale.

The production will be carried out by Sky Works, a manufacturing subsidiary established in October 2023, utilizing Suzuki’s factory located in Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture. They aim to produce up to 100 flying cars annually. Half of Sky Works’ employees come from Suzuki, bringing their expertise and knowledge from automotive production. Prototyping and assembly procedures for flying cars have been underway since September 2023.

On March 6, 2024, all employees of Sky Works, along with Suzuki’s President and CEO, Toshihiro Suzuki, Sky Works’ President, Nobuo Kishi, and SkyDrive’s CEO, Tomohiro Fukuzawa, participated in a nail-driving ceremony to pray for the safe operation of the factory.
